Due to our continued growth, we are hiring for a Senior Data Engineer (SQL DBA) at M3 Global Research, an M3 company.

Job Description
M3 Global Research, an M3 company, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer with SQL DBA expertise to join our data engineering team. This role will primarily focus on database administration (DBA) tasks such as optimization, performance tuning, and security.
The ideal candidate will have strong SQL database administration expertise. They will be responsible for understanding business needs, prioritizing work, leading daily standups, and effectively communicating technical solutions to stakeholders. While direct Power BI development is not required, the candidate should be able to guide and support the team’s work and ensure alignment with business objectives.
Primary DBA Responsibilities:
- Manage and optimize databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle) for performance, security, and availability.
- Design and maintain database schemas, indexes, and partitions to support scalability and efficiency.
- Perform database monitoring, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
- Implement security best practices, including access control, encryption, and auditing.
- Troubleshoot database performance issues and optimize query performance.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, security policies, and industry standards.
Team Responsibilities:
- Participate daily standups, prioritize tasks, and ensure you are aligned with business needs.
- Translate business requirements into actionable data engineering tasks.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that Power BI and data solutions meet business objectives.
- Mentor team members and drive best practices in data management and reporting.
Qualifications
Competencies:
- Strong SQL database administration expertise (performance tuning, security, backup/recovery).
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to work with both technical and non-technical teams.
- Ability to prioritize and manage a team’s workload while driving business objectives.
- Problem-solving mindset with a strong attention to detail.
AI and Automation Expectations
- Strong hands-on experience with modern AI models and developer tooling to improve software delivery speed and quality.
- Ability to use AI effectively for SQL performance tuning, database reliability validation, migration planning, and operational runbook automation.
- Experience applying AI to testing workflows, including test scenario generation, regression coverage expansion, and edge-case identification.
- Proven ability to create practical automation that reduces manual effort while maintaining quality, security, and auditability.
- Comfortable evaluating AI output quality, selecting the right model/tool for the task, and using secure patterns for sensitive data.
- Track record of measurable efficiency gains (faster cycle times, improved stability, reduced operational toil, or better delivery predictability).
Engagement Model
- This role will begin as a contract engagement with a planned path to full-time conversion based on performance, impact, and organizational need.
- We are looking for someone who can deliver quickly in a hands-on environment and grow into long-term technical leadership.
