Are you looking to launch or grow your career in accounting? Merchants Fleet is seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience in financial reporting, cash reconciliation, and process improvements, while collaborating across departments to support the company’s financial health.
Location: Merchants Fleet Headquarters in Hooksett, NH / Hybrid
What You’ll Do
- Ensure accurate documentation and integrity of financial transactions
- Manage daily cash reconciliations for multiple bank accounts
- Support month-end close and financial reporting, including account analysis and reconciliations
- Provide audit support and prepare schedules for annual financial audits
- Assist with cashflow forecasting and treasury-related reporting
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency
- Work with large data sets and system integrations to ensure accurate financial results
What We’re Looking For
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/MBA a plus)
- 0–3 years of experience in public or private accounting
- Knowledge of GAAP (Lease Accounting experience a plus)
- Skills & Strengths:
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- A fast learner with intellectual curiosity and a can-do attitude
- Comfortable working independently and with large data sets
- Experience with Great Plains Dynamics, Adra, Planful, Dataserv, or SQL a plus
