ngrok is a cloud networking platform that secures, transforms, and routes traffic to services running anywhere. We act as a single gateway, replacing multiple networking components like reverse proxies, load balancers, VPNs, and authentication layers.

Our platform helps users connect applications, devices, and services securely through Endpoints, Traffic Policy, and Secure Tunnels. We use Endpoints and Traffic Policy for routing, transforming, and authenticating traffic with an expressive CEL-based rules system. Secure Tunnels connect services in any environment without needing firewall changes, reducing the attack surface by closing inbound ports and giving precise network access.

Founded in 2015 by Alan Shreve, ngrok raised a $50m Series A in 2022. Millions of developers use us, including teams at companies like Twilio, GitHub, Okta, Microsoft, Zoom, and Databricks. We also help build and operate billing, metering, and usage data infrastructure, and offer administrative features like IAM, RBAC, and certificate-based identity management. We design and implement distributed systems for high-performance traffic routing, security, and AI-driven service traffic.
