The Role As a member of the Product Engineering team, the Senior Frontend Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable, high-quality frontend applications using React. You will play a key role in shaping the user experience, architecture, and technical direction of our web applications, ensuring performance, accessibility, and maintainability at scale.
You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, Backend Engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver intuitive, data-driven user experiences that meet business objectives. Your focus will be on driving frontend best practices, enabling consistent UI patterns, improving development workflows, and promoting Continuous Delivery within the team.
Your contributions will directly impact the reliability, usability, and evolution of our frontend platforms, empowering the engineering organisation to deliver high-quality features faster and more efficiently.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Design, build, test, and maintain scalable frontend applications using React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Lead frontend architecture decisions, ensuring code quality, performance optimisation, scalability, and maintainability.
- Establish and promote frontend engineering standards, including component design, state management, testing strategies, and accessibility best practices.
- Develop and champion robust Continuous Delivery practices, including CI pipelines, automated testing, and feature flagging.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Backend teams to translate requirements and prototypes into high-quality user experiences.
- Own and evolve shared UI component libraries and design systems to ensure consistency across applications.
- Conduct code reviews, pair programming, and provide mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
- Identify and proactively address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and UX friction points.
- Contribute to improvements in the software development lifecycle, including documentation, standards, and team ceremonies.
- Participate in and help facilitate technical discussions, architecture reviews, retrospectives, and engineering forums.
- Provide technical guidance and support across teams on frontend best practices and modern web technologies.
- Partner with Engineering Leadership to define and execute a roadmap for frontend capability uplift over time.
About You
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong expertise in frontend development using React.
- Deep knowledge of modern JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3, including responsive and adaptive design principles.
- Experience in building components with Storybook
- Strong experience with React ecosystem tools such as React Hooks, Context API, state management libraries, and routing solutions.
- Experience building and maintaining scalable component libraries or design systems.
- Solid understanding of frontend performance optimisation techniques (code splitting, lazy loading, caching strategies, Core Web Vitals).
- Experience with frontend testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library Playwright) and test automation practices.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Continuous Delivery practices in a modern DevOps environment.
- Experience integrating with RESTful APIs.
- Strong understanding of web security fundamentals (e.g., XSS, CSRF, authentication flows, secure storage).
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, influence architectural decisions, and mentor other engineers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Product-oriented mindset with a strong focus on user experience, quality, and business impact.
- Comfortable working in distributed, cross-functional teams with asynchronous collaboration.
- Committed to continuous learning and staying current with evolving frontend technologies and best practices.
- Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and a bias toward action in fast-paced environments.
