Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to support and strengthen our growing People function. In this role, you’ll work directly with leaders and employees across designated departments to deliver thoughtful, scalable people practices—while leaning into both strategy and hands‑on execution.

At Perkins, you’ll partner with smart, collaborative colleagues who value HR as a true advisor and builder. You’ll have the opportunity to shape how our people programs evolve as the firm grows, solve meaningful organizational challenges, and support leaders who genuinely want a strong, healthy workplace. Expect variety—no two days, teams, or needs are the same—and enjoy being part of a culture that values partnership, curiosity, and continuous improvement.

If you thrive at the intersection of strategy and doing the work, love supporting leaders, and are energized by building People practices in a mid‑sized organization, we’d love to meet you.

What’s the work arrangement?

This role is hybrid, with on‑site presence required in our centrally located downtown Portland, OR office at least three (3) days per week to support leaders, employees, and firm‑wide initiatives.

What you’ll do

  • Serve as the primary HR partner for assigned departments, building deep relationships with leaders and teams
  • Support and evolve core people processes including performance management, employee development, and engagement programs
  • Provide hands-on HR support—including employee relations, coaching, conflict resolution, investigations, and policy interpretation
  • Leverage Workday to streamline HR processes, deliver reporting and analytics, and enhance leader self‑service
  • Partner with internal HR teams (Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Total Rewards, HR Operations) to ensure alignment and consistency across programs
  • Identify opportunities to improve, scale, and modernize how we deliver people support as the firm grows
  • Help drive a people-first culture grounded in communication, transparency, and continuous improvement

What makes you a great fit

  • 5 or more years progressive HR experience in a generalist or HR Business Parter role  supporting designated leaders or functional groups;
  • Knowledge of all existing governmental and labor legal reporting requirements including any related to EEO laws, ADA laws, (FMLA), (ERISA), (DOL).
  • Strong, hands-on experience with Workday
  • Solid understanding of performance management, employee relations, and HR best practices
  • Comfort balancing strategic thinking with day‑to‑day execution—you enjoy building the strategy and rolling up your sleeves
  • Experience working in a mid‑sized or growing organization (professional services experience a plus)
  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate people insights into actionable guidance for leaders
  • A collaborative, proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset

Compensation and benefits

  • Salary range is $85k – 100k annually, varying DOE
  • 401(k) profit sharing plan with immediate vesting
  • 14.5 paid holidays, 4 weeks of PTO, Paid Family and Medical Leave
  • Incentive plan for sales leads
  • In-office perks include paid parking, public transit access, a bike garage, gym, outdoor space, and plenty of snacks
