Job Description

At PicnicHealth, we’re building the future of non-interventional clinical research, powered by AI and centered on patients. Our mission is to make it radically easier, faster, and more affordable to perform clinical trials and get better treatments to patients. We’re replacing the legacy, services-heavy model with a modern, AI-first approach that unlocks insights from rich, multi-modal data—from clinical notes and imaging to lab results—at scale.  By engaging patients directly through our personal health assistant, PicnicAI, which meets them where they’re at and delights them along the way (with an industry leading NPS of 76), patients participate actively in the research they care about.

PicnicHealth is already a trusted partner to 7 of the top 10 pharmaceutical companies. Our work spans 40+ disease areas and has supported over 60 peer-reviewed publications, including an FDA submission that incorporates PicnicHealth data.

Founded in 2014, we’ve raised $100M+ from top investors like Amplify Partners, Felicis Ventures, B Capital Group, and Y Combinator. Our business running non-interventional studies more than doubled last year, and we’re growing even faster in 2026. We’re a team of doctors, patients, data nerds, engineers, and builders, reimagining how clinical research works — and we’re just getting started!

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Board Certified Radiologist or Neurologist to serve as a subject matter expert for a research study in a CNS autoimmune condition. This is a flexible, remote contract role ideal for a physician looking to apply their clinical expertise to impactful real-world evidence research. You will play a critical role in defining how we extract complex MRI data elements to monitor disease progression, ensuring our data meets the highest clinical standards.

What you’ll do:

  • Advise on Data Strategy: Advise on how to best abstract radiology-related data elements for CNS autoimmune conditions.
  • Develop Training Standards: Advise on training materials and develop “gold standard” answer keys to train our clinical abstraction team.
  • Ensure Clinical Quality: Serve as an escalation point for the PicnicHealth clinical team during abstraction and periodically review data for accuracy to ensure consistency.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Medical Licensure: MD or DO with active Board Certification in Radiology or Neurology.

    • If Neurologist: Must have extensive experience reviewing and interpreting radiology reports.
    • If Radiologist: Must be familiar with neurology imaging.
  • Clinical Experience: Preference for experience with indications like Multiple Sclerosis (MS) or related neuroinflammatory conditions.

  • Tech Savvy: Comfortable learning and using new software and collaborating remotely (Slack, Google Workspace, Video calls).

  • Research experience / interest: Interest in observational research for rare diseases, and an interest in ensuring high-quality, consistent data collection from medical records.

  • Time Commitment:

    • Anticipate ~20-40 hours of initial advisory work through May 2026; followed by periodic advising (estimated at 5-10 hours every 6 months through May 2027).
    • Most work can be completed asynchronously. Our team is flexible and can work around your schedule for any synchronous work (e.g., periodic meetings).
    • There is opportunity for additional advising opportunities over time.
