Practising Law Institute (PLI)

We are a nonprofit learning organization, chartered by the Regents of the University of the State of New York and founded in 1933 by Harold P. Seligson. Our mission is to support attorneys and other professionals by offering accredited continuing legal and professional education programs.

Our programs are delivered by over 4,000 volunteer faculty, including lawyers, judges, investment bankers, accountants, corporate counsel, and government regulators from the U.S. and abroad. We also publish Treatises, Course Handbooks, Answer Books, and Journals, which are available on our PLI PLUS online platform.

We operate from our main office in New York City, with an additional office in San Francisco.

A core part of our mission is our commitment to the pro bono community. Last year, over 98,000 people attended our pro bono programs. We are a mission-driven nonprofit.

Practising Law Institute has 201-500 employees. It offers a collaborative and balanced work environment, with flexible hybrid scheduling available for most roles to support work-life balance.
