Job Description

Job Overview

The Lead Engineer is an entry-level people manager and senior member of SEEK’s Engineering team. You’ll provide in-team leadership focused on people management, team health, tech culture and cohesion, while driving software delivery and engineering quality. Though leadership is your primary focus, you’ll also write clean, scalable, testable code and uphold strong development practices.

You’ll manage and mentor engineers, foster technical and personal growth, and ensure solutions meet SEEK’s business and technical needs across APAC.

The Role

  • Lead engineers to design, build, test, deploy, and maintain secure, reliable, and scalable software
  • Strengthen engineering, DevOps, and agile practices to drive continuous improvement and quality delivery
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and align technology outcomes to SEEK’s customer and business needs
  • Coach and develop team members, fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing culture
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and professional growth through feedback and community engagement

Qualifications

So, what we are looking for:

  • Experience leading or mentoring software engineers in cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in CI/CD, cloud-first development, modern programming languages, and secure coding practices.
  • Skilled in building, monitoring, and maintaining high-quality applications and APIs.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills across geographically distributed teams.
  • Demonstrated alignment to SEEK’s culture principles.

Desired Values

  • Experience delivering complex technical outcomes or maintaining system/platform health.
  • Previous involvement in recruitment, coaching, or professional development of engineers.
  • Background in online marketplace or similar digital environments.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
