Job Description
The Team
Hirer Engagement is a cross-functional product and engineering team within SEEK’s Hirer domain, focused on activating, retaining and engaging hirers by closing gaps in customer activation, engagement and experience that limit growth.
The team owns and optimises core logged-in hirer experiences including navigation and information architecture, the hirer dashboard and in-product nudges, activation and communications (such as banners, pop-ups and calls to action), notification preferences, account and team management (users, roles and permissions), and account administration and payments flows, including secure impersonation-related journeys.
Hirer Engagement works closely with Hirer Acquisition and other product teams across ANZ and Asia markets to reduce friction from registration to first job ad, drive ongoing product adoption via targeted in-product experiences, and ensure compliant, auditable management of hirer accounts and high-risk actions.
Their mandate is to maximise hirer value and long-term engagement through data-informed experimentation, research and iterative improvements to these foundational hirer-facing surfaces.
We play a pivotal role in Company level OKRs like growing new hirers segment in all markets we operate.
We have adopted a breadth of Technologies like React/Typescript, GraphQL for front end development, and Node.js/Typescript to build APIs/Services, AWS as our infrastructure platform and Practices like Agile, CI/CD, Automated testing, Micro services to build amazing products.
About the role
A Staff Engineer at SEEK is a senior technical leader and a key driver of engineering excellence across teams and domains. You will set technical direction, establish and scale best practices, and ensure they are adopted consistently. You’ll shape technology roadmaps, influence architectural decisions across systems, and raise the bar on reliability, security, and performance.

Responsibilities
- Build and operate highly scalable and performant software in alignment with SEEK’s technology strategy.
- Improve platform health, ensuring that our systems are, reliable, resilient, and efficient according to SEEK development practices.
- Coach and mentor Software Engineers. Lead, coach, and mentor Software Engineers to foster a culture of technical excellence.
- Ensure platform health for services owned are aligned to SEEK’s technical metrics goals.
- Improve Agile delivery practices through collaboration with the Engineering Manager and Business Analyst.
- Act as a developer advocate, building relationships with other engineering teams to ensure the right problems are addressed.
- Having experience in distributed systems is a plus
You will work with various roles, including Software Engineers at multiple levels such as Lead Engineer, Engineering Manager, Business Analyst / Iteration Manager, and Platform Engineers
Qualifications
Skills and experience
- Has created and maintained software in two or more modern software development languages (Typescript/.Net, Node.js, React etc).
- Experience with the design, development, support, and maintenance of cloud first applications, preferably AWS (Dynamo DB, Lambda etc).
- Strong experience with Design Patterns.
- Develop/Lead Technical Roadmaps which communicate and guide the evolution of services/systems/platforms
- Experience with software observabilities (logging, tracing, monitoring/alerting).
- Experience applying and improving continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to influence and lead technical decisions within the team and across the organisation.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in an engineering platform space.
