Job Description
The Senior UI Engineer is a key contributor within the R&D Engineering department, responsible for delivering high-quality front-end features and components across StarCompliance’s SaaS applications. You will collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Backend Engineering teams to deliver elegant, performant, and maintainable user interfaces aligned with Star’s design system and front-end architecture.  This role plays a central part in ensuring consistency, accessibility, and performance across Star’s suite of products — contributing to the continuous improvement of UI frameworks, component libraries, and coding standards. The Senior UI Engineer also mentors junior engineers, influences front-end best practices, and helps drive innovation in user experience delivery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITY
As a Senior UI Engineer, you will help shape the evolution of StarCompliance’s front-end engineering discipline — building scalable, performant, and maintainable interfaces that delight our users.
Build, maintain, and evolve front-end features and components using React, TypeScript, and modern web tooling.
Contribute to the design and development of Star’s design system and component library, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and scalability.
Collaborate with designers to translate design concepts into production-ready, pixel-perfect interfaces.
Optimize front-end performance and maintain high standards for accessibility and cross-browser compatibility.
Participate in architectural discussions, helping to define Star’s front-end strategy, tooling, and best practices.
Write robust, testable code with high unit test coverage using Jest and React Testing Library.
Work within modular or micro-frontend environments, integrating components across distributed systems.
Mentor and support other engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
Collaborate closely with Product, Architecture, and QA teams to ensure quality is built into every stage of development.
Champion modern UI engineering practices including CI/CD integration, component reusability, and automated testing.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 5+ years of professional front-end engineering experience, with strong expertise in React and TypeScript.
- Proven experience designing or maintaining scalable component libraries or design systems.
- Excellent knowledge of modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3/Sass, and build tools.
- Familiarity with state management tools (React Query, Redux, Jotai, or similar).
- Experience working with Material UI or similar frameworks and extending them as needed.
- Solid understanding of testing frameworks (Jest, Testing Library) and CI/CD integration.
- Comfortable collaborating in cross-functional agile teams, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with performance optimization, accessibility (WCAG), and responsive design.
- Exposure to Azure DevOps pipelines and .NET environments beneficial.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance delivery speed, user experience, and technical excellence.
