Position Overview:
The Analyst / Associate at StepStone Infrastructure & Real Assets will be responsible for providing support across transactional and Responsible Investment (RI/ESG) activity to SIRA’s local and international team in advising clients on investments in infrastructure and associated real asset sectors globally. The role will require analytical and modelling skills, but the candidate is also expected to have a strong understanding of sustainability concepts and issues.
Essential Job Functions:
- Strong financial modelling and analytical skills – ability to create and/or modify sophisticated financial models, analyze financial statements and financial forecasts, prepare valuation bridges, run discounted cash flow analysis, comparable public companies, and create sensitivity/scenario analysis;
- Strong memo / presentation writing and preparation skills;
- Strong client interaction skills – ability to interact with clients and prepare advisory materials as required;
- Support investment teams on Responsible Investment, including engaging on ESG risks and opportunities during due diligence and developing and delivering training on key issues to colleagues;
- Develop RI-related materials, including customized presentations for investor meetings, RFP responses, ESG reporting, and legal documentation
- Ability to undertake research regarding, and diligence of, potential investment opportunities and sectors, including primary funds, secondaries, co-investments and direct investments;
- Ability to construct an argument around investment decisions and effectively communicate that argument both verbally and in written materials; be able to defend your position in a team environment, including in Investment Committee meetings;
- Monitor global ESG trends and emerging best practices (e.g., industry and regulatory updates etc.), providing insights to leadership and identifying and executing on enhancements to the firm’s ESG practices
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
2–5 years of experience in IB, project finance advisory, transaction services, or equivalent with some relevant experience in Responsible Investment (ESG)
Relevant buyside and Responsible Investment experience at a FoF or GP would also be considered directly transferable
Transaction experience — M&A, financings, or diligence processes with clear deal exposure
Ability to produce high-quality (at or near native standard) written content in business English
Second European language is preferred (French, German, Danish)
Self-starter, eager to learn and desire to grow within the organization
Ability to work in a fast-paced global team environment with an ability to manage changing and competing priorities
Other Desired Skills/Attributes:
- Flexibility – StepStone is a dynamic and entrepreneurial organization; all professionals are expected to perform multiple functions
- Promote and demonstrate a positive, team-oriented attitude
- Evidence of ESG certification (e.g. CFA Sustainable Investing, IFRS / SASB FSA credential) is a plus, but not required
