Job Description

Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SIA) is seeking an Engineering Consultant to join our Nuclear Analytical Service team, with a primary focus on ASME Section III, Division 5 elevated-temperature design, creep-fatigue evaluation, and advanced reactor applications. This position may be based remotely or in one of our office locations.

This role will support high-temperature structural analyses, creep-fatigue assessments, elevated-temperature design evaluations, and development/testing of engineering software tools supporting advanced reactor technologies and the existing nuclear fleet.

Primary Responsibilities:

 - Support ASME Section III, Division 5 stress, fatigue, creep-fatigue, and elevated-temperature evaluations

  - Support existing nuclear fleet and advanced reactor design, including high-temperature materials and code evaluations

  - Interact with clients to provide engineering solutions, code interpretations, results, and analyses

  - Contribute to proposals for project development and scoping

  - Manage technical projects that offer solutions to industry clients (mid/senior level)

  - Develop new leads and project opportunities with clients (mid/senior level)

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  - BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Materials Engineering

  - Minimum of 6-10 years of experience in the following fields:

  • Design Engineering experience with ASME Section III, Division 5 for advanced reactor/elevated-temperature applications
  • Materials degradation and high-temperature behavior, including fatigue, EAF, creep, and creep-fatigue
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, and Python-based analysis tools.
  • Programs Engineering including Inservice Inspection and License Renewal (Initial and Subsequent)
  • Operation of Nuclear Plant Systems
  • Experience with domestic U.S. commercial nuclear fleet reactor designs (PWR/BWR) and/or advanced reactor designs

  - Experience with NRC regulations and business protocol

  - Excellent written and oral communication skills including presentations

Desired Skills/Qualifications:

  - MS degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering and/or Materials Engineering

  - Experience in the following fields:

  • Active ASME Code Committee membership and engagement
  • Knowledge of advanced nuclear reactor design and high-temperature design rules
  • Materials science background in high-temperature materials, creep mechanisms, and creep-fatigue damage assessment.

  - Professional Engineer (PE) License

Pay Range:

The salary for this role will be commensurate with experience and location. For candidates in Denver, CO, the expected salary range is $104,080 to 144,400. For candidates in San Jose, CA, the expected salary range is $123,040 to $171,000. For candidates in Huntersville, NC, the expected salary range is $96,880 to $135,000.
