We started in 2007 in the food and beverage industry. We serve simple, seasonal, and healthy salads and grain bowls, prepared fresh daily from whole ingredients.

Our menu features items like Kale Caesar, Guacamole Greens, Buffalo Chicken, Harvest Bowl, Chicken Pesto Parm, Shroomami, Rosemary Focaccia, Roasted Sweet Potatoes, and Hibiscus Clover Tea. We manage our supply chain from start to finish, partnering directly with farmers.

We have more than 220 locations in states including PA, MA, DMV, NY, CA, IL, TX, CO, and FL. We also provide corporate services, including daily meal delivery and a credit program for subsidized employee meals.

We aim to be carbon neutral by the end of 2027 by supporting regenerative farming, assessing the carbon footprint of our menu, and designing sustainable restaurants. We follow the Better Chicken Commitment for animal welfare and develop automation systems for our kitchens, known as Infinite Kitchen.

Our mission is to inspire healthier communities through real food. We want to reimagine fast food, believing that everyday food choices can significantly impact communities. Three college students founded sweetgreen in Washington D.C. on August 1st, 2007, because they wanted healthier eating options.
