The Location: This position is a full-time remote role.
Starting Pay: $20.00 per hour. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors. These factors include geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions and could exceed the advertised salary range.
The Internship:
The Portfolio Management & Strategy Intern will support Taconic Biosciences’ Portfolio Management, Innovation, and Scientific Marketing teams through structured market intelligence, competitor analysis, and strategic assessment of research models and services. This role provides hands-on exposure to how scientific innovation is translated into differentiated products, services, and commercial strategy in the preclinical research space.
The intern will work directly with internal stakeholders to evaluate Taconic’s current and future portfolio of research models and services, assess the competitive landscape, and synthesize findings into actionable strategic recommendations. This role is ideal for a candidate interested in the intersection of life sciences, business strategy, and scientific commercialization.
You can expect to do:
Competitive Product Analysis: Generate and maintain an up-to-date inventory of Taconic research models, organized by: Therapeutic area (e.g., oncology, immunology, infectious disease, neuroscience) Model type (e.g., immunocompetent, immunodeficient, humanized, genetically engineered)
Identify exact and partial competitor equivalents for each model across major industry competitors
Collect and document publicly available pricing, positioning, and differentiating features for competitor models
Highlight gaps, overlaps, and areas of differentiation within the competitive landscape
Competitive Service Analysis: Generate and maintain an up-to-date inventory of Taconic CMS and CMGS services
Identify key competitors offering comparable services and collect: Service descriptions, Pricing or pricing frameworks (when available) Turnaround times, capabilities, and value propositions
Organize findings in structured comparison tables suitable for internal strategy and leadership review
Document & Intelligence Organization
Download, catalog, and organize competitor materials, including:
Websites and web page captures
Marketing collateral
Product and service brochures
Pricing sheets and public investor materials
Develop and maintain an easily navigable digital repository that enables efficient internal access and future updates
Apply consistent naming conventions, metadata tagging, and version control
Strategic & Business Analysis
Synthesize insights from product, service, and document analysis to develop strategic recommendations, including:
Pricing optimization opportunities
Identification of unmet market needs or portfolio gaps
New model or service concepts aligned with market demand
Emerging markets, applications, or customer segments
Recommendations for website structure, content, or navigation improvements (with examples)
Support the creation of internal presentations, summaries, and dashboards for Portfolio Management and cross-functional leadership teams
Other duties may be assigned.
Complete an end of summer presentation on the knowledge and skills obtained, with provided exposure to leadership

Eligibility:
To be eligible for this opportunity you must:
Be enrolled in a Master’s, PhD, or MBA in: Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or related field program. Will consider Business, Marketing, Strategy students with strong scientific exposure
Have strong analytical and organizational skills
Possess the ability to synthesize complex technical and market information into clear summaries
Be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Have a high attention to detail and ability to manage structured datasets
