About the Role
The Innovation Lab intern will be responsible for supporting the Innovation Lab team with a range of activities including the evaluation of unmet needs in eye care, mechanism of action and biological research, competitive landscapes assessments, market analyses, proof of concept evaluation, and clinical, regulatory, and reimbursement pathways. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset and be a highly motivated and tactical problem solver. The individual will engage with Innovation Lab leadership and cross functional partners in the evaluation of new unmet needs and learn about driving internal innovation while assisting with the creation of new eye care pipeline programs for Tarsus.
Letβs talk about some of the key responsibilities of the role:
- Work closely with Innovation Lab leadership and cross-functional team members to critically identify and evaluate unmet needs in eyecare and perform the below activities, ultimately culminating in a presentation of a new area of focus for Tarsus
- Conduct deep scientific and market research to become knowledgeable in key ocular indication(s)
- Perform strategic and competitive landscape analyses, decision support, and analysis of new unmet need initiatives
- Gather competitive analysis, market intelligence, and assigned secondary market research as directed and become knowledgeable on key ocular indications
- Engage with cross-functional teams in early-stage testing, validation, and refinement of business ideas to ensure product-market-fit
- Partner with current Innovation Lab leadership to implement the strategy of the early unmet needs pipeline
- Contribute to a culture of innovation, translation, and entrepreneurship within Tarsus
Factors for Success
- Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in life sciences, bioengineering or a related field
- Demonstrated excellence in academic performance that reflects a rigorous and intellectually diverse educational journey
- Driven by curiosity and appreciates seeking answers to difficult questions
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience contributing to and leading innovative projects/programs
- Strong written and communication skills
- Ability and experience in critically evaluating scientific literature
- Experience working in a research lab is a plus but not required
- Highly motivated and thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Perseverance, initiative, and a desire for self-improvement are highly valued
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ophthalmic knowledge and research experience a plus

- This position reports directly to our Associate Director, Innovation Lab
The expected hourly pay for this position is $26/hour for an undergraduate student and $45/hr for a graduate student.
