Job Description
Our Research, Development & Innovation (RDI) department is growing and we are looking for a Technical Lead – EU RDI Proposals, to join our RDI’s Innovation Funding & Ecosystem Development (IFED) team.
The RDI Department has recently established the iQnovus Innovation Center, which coordinates Research and Innovation activities not only for Uni Systems but also for other Quest Group companies (ACS, Info Quest Technologies, Quest Energy, and BriQ). The Center has a strong portfolio of EU funding proposals and awarded projects in various domains, incl. smart cities, energy, mobility, industry 4.0, e-gov, cultural heritage, health, etc., working very collaboratively with academic/research institutes, other companies, start-ups and non-profits across Europe in submitting joint proposals to various EU funding programmes (e.g., Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, Creative Europe, etc.).
What will you be bringing to the team?
Our UniQue people come from a variety of different backgrounds and industries, with different skillsets and approaches, but they have one thing in common: a passion for technology and innovation!
In this role, you will lead and represent the company’s technical contribution in the development of European R&D proposals (e.g. Horizon Europe, Digital Europe), with selective involvement in technical oversight during project implementation.
More specifically, for the Technical Lead – EU RDI Proposals position, we expect you to:
EU Proposal Development Phase
- Collaborate with the rest of the IFED team to identify appropriate technical roles that may fit to specific call topics and EU funding proposal concepts that the company is invited to participate in.
- Represent the company as a technical expert in EU R&D proposals, with primary focus on platform development, integration, data management, or interoperability activities.
- Secure and negotiate ownership of technical roles for our company in EU R&D proposals.
- Define, present, and refine the scope of the company’s technical roles throughout the proposal writing phase (orally and in writing).
- Drafting and reviewing proposal text relating to the company’s technical work packages, tasks, architectures, methodologies, etc., to ensure clarity, accuracy, and competitiveness.
- Ensure compliance of role description in the proposal with call requirements, evaluation criteria, and alignment with the rest of the technical partners in the consortia the company participates.
- Liaise and collaborate effectively with our innovation ecosystem partners and external partners across international consortia, to understand their profiles, capabilities, and roles.
Project Implementation Phase
- Collaborate with internal teams (project management) to support alignment between commitments made in proposal phase and project implementation.
- Contribute to the technical delivery and implementation of selected funded projects, as required.
- Author and/or review technical deliverables associated with Tasks or Work Packages that the company leads, ensuring they abide by EU evaluation criteria and the company’s high standards.
Your experience, skillset and qualifications are going to help you succeed in this position, moving forward. We would like you to have:
Academic Excellence: MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related STEM field.
EU Funding Track Record: Demonstrated experience in drafting technical sections for proposals in Horizon Europe, Digital Europe or similar EU funding programs.
Technical Implementation: Proven experience in at least two completed EU projects, specifically in System Architecture, Platform Development, Integration, Data Management or any other related technical task.
Communication Mastery: Professional-level English (written and verbal) with the ability to “translate” complex technical stacks into compelling proposal text.
Negotiation & Influence: Ability to defend the company’s technical interests in multidisciplinary meetings.
Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
Agility: Flexibility and a strong eagerness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges
