The role
As Senior Risk Partner, you’ll be a trusted partner to asset management and operational teams, helping embed risk‑based decision making into planning, investment and day‑to‑day operations across Vector’s electricity network. Working closely with frontline teams and senior leaders, you’ll support the identification, assessment and management of operational and asset‑related risks, ensuring controls are effective and aligned with Vector’s risk appetite.
This role blends deep operational understanding with targeted assurance. You’ll work alongside engineering teams to review and challenge asset management practices, integrate risk principles into operational delivery, and undertake assurance reviews to provide confidence that key controls are operating as intended. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you’ll influence decisions that directly impact customer safety, reliability and network resilience.
What sets this role apart is its impact and reach. You’ll collaborate with engineers, operators and senior leaders on meaningful, purpose‑driven work, shaping how risk is embedded across a critical infrastructure organisation. You’ll join a team that values proactive risk thinking, continuous improvement and strong relationships – while playing a vital part in keeping Auckland powered every day.
Who are we looking for?
- A wealth of experience in asset management or operational roles within large infrastructure, utilities or similarly complex environments
- Strong commercial and operational acumen, with the confidence to support and challenge engineers and leaders on risk‑based decisions
- Experience working with risk frameworks or assurance activities, and the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to clearly articulate and discuss engineering/asset management challenges and insights to a wide range of stakeholders, and a collaborative, influence‑led approach
- A proactive mindset aligned with Vector’s behaviours, particularly owning outcomes, working collectively and understanding others’ perspectives.

- Supercharge your career through internal opportunities, own your own development plan and drive your learning and growth
