Job Description
Who we are
80% of the workers across the globe are Deskless. These are the people who keep our lights on and gas flowing, build roads and bridges, run our manufacturing factories, ensure that we get healthcare service, and provide us with reliable phone and internet connectivity. As entrepreneurs, have we considered solving their problems and making them more productive?
Zinier is a company on a mission to empower frontline workers - and the people supporting them - to achieve greater things for themselves and the world around them. With the majority of workers worldwide being deskless, Zinier recognizes the need for Technology Equity to improve the lives and productivity of these workers who keep the world up and running.
We are a remote-first, global team headquartered in Silicon Valley, with a hybrid workforce across the United States, Canada, Europe, Latin America, Singapore, and Bangalore, India, with leading investors that include Accel, ICONIQ Capital, Founders Fund, Newfund Capital, NGP Capital, Tiger Global Management, and Qualcomm Ventures LLC.
What we are looking for
Do you dream in scheduling algorithms and get excited about cracking complex workforce optimisation problems? Do you instinctively think about constraint-based logic, technician routing, and the tension between automation and human override? Zinier is searching for a deeply technical, execution-obsessed Product Owner who lives and breathes field service scheduling and optimisation.
In this high-impact role, you’ll be the bridge between our Product Managers in the UK/US and our engineering team in India. You’ll take PRDs and epics authored by Product Management, decompose them into precisely crafted user stories with bulletproof acceptance criteria, and ensure engineering delivers working software that meets the bar—every sprint, every time.
You’ll own the sprint backlog for our Scheduler stream—the beating heart of Zinier’s platform. This means you need genuine domain expertise in scheduling, dispatching, capacity management, and route optimisation within field service operations. You’ll need to understand the nuances of SLA-driven scheduling, skill-based assignment, travel time optimisation, and real-time re-scheduling scenarios that our customers face daily.
This isn’t about making roadmap decisions or engaging directly with customers on strategy—that’s our Product Managers’ domain. This is about translating strategic intent into engineering-ready work with surgical precision, being available to your engineering team daily, and relentlessly driving sprint execution quality.
Bring your scheduler brain, your engineering fluency, and your obsession with delivery excellence. This is your opportunity to own execution on the most technically demanding stream in our platform.
Where you are located
Based in India, ideally Bangalore, to be co-located with the engineering team. You’ll collaborate daily with Product Managers in the UK/US, so flexibility across time zones is essential.
What the role offers
- Decompose PRDs and epics into user stories: Take strategic inputs from Product Management and break them into detailed, engineering-ready user stories with clear acceptance criteria—specifically for the Scheduler and optimisation domain
- Own and maintain a healthy, prioritised sprint backlog: Keep the Scheduler backlog groomed at least 2 sprints ahead, ensuring engineering always has well-defined, estimable work ready to pull
- Be the daily point of contact for engineering: Available in real-time to clarify requirements, unblock engineers, and make tactical decisions that keep delivery moving without compromising quality
- Run sprint ceremonies with discipline: Own planning, refinement, review, and retrospective for the Scheduler stream—ensuring every ceremony drives value, not just process
- Accept or reject delivered work: Rigorously validate delivered increments against acceptance criteria; maintain a high first-pass acceptance rate by writing stories that leave no room for ambiguity
- Bring deep scheduler domain expertise: Apply your knowledge of workforce scheduling, constraint-based optimisation, dispatching logic, SLA management, and route planning to write stories that reflect real-world field service complexity
- Escalate thoughtfully to Product Management: Surface priority trade-offs, scope risks, and delivery blockers to PMs when decisions exceed sprint boundaries—never silently absorb strategic misalignment
- Drive quality through process rigour: Ensure every story entering refinement has customer context, problem evidence, and WSJF scoring—no exceptions
What you’ll bring to the role
- 5–7 years as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or equivalent role working directly with engineering teams: Proven track record decomposing complex requirements into shippable increments in agile environments
- Deep domain expertise in FSM scheduling and optimisation: Hands-on experience with workforce scheduling engines, dispatch optimisation, constraint-based assignment, capacity planning, or route optimisation—ideally within field service management, logistics, or workforce management platforms
- Engineering fluency: Ability to speak credibly with developers about APIs, data models, algorithm trade-offs, and system behaviour—you don’t write code, but you understand how it works
- Mastery of agile execution: Expert-level backlog management, story writing, sprint planning, and velocity tracking; you know the difference between a good story and a great one
- Precision under pressure: Thrive in fast-paced environments where priorities shift, escalations land, and you still deliver a clean, well-groomed backlog every sprint
- Excellent communication across time zones: Comfortable collaborating asynchronously with UK/US-based Product Managers while maintaining daily, real-time availability for your India-based engineering team
- First-principles problem solver: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to challenge assumptions, ask the right questions, and ensure the ‘why’ behind every story is crystal clear
- Be Hungry. Be Humble. Be Honest. And Hustle.
Own the sprint. Master the schedule. Be the reason our Scheduler stream delivers with precision.
