Job Title: Analytics Engineer (Remote)

Location: DC or Chicago

Duration: Full Time

Job Description:

Our client is seeking an Analytics Engineer to develop, administer, and enhance the firms business intelligence platforms, with a primary focus on Power BI. This role will design and maintain intuitive dashboards, impactful visualizations, and actionable insights for both business and legal stakeholders. It will also lead the strategic migration of Tableau and Alteryx workflows to Power BI while maintaining legacy systems during a transitional period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and optimize dashboards, reports, and visualizations in Power BI
  • Administer Power BI, including workspace configuration, access controls, governance, and capacity planning
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable, insightful solutions
  • Lead the migration of Tableau dashboards and Alteryx workflows to Power BI
  • Maintain and optimize legacy Tableau and Alteryx solutions during transition
  • Champion data visualization best practices, performance optimization, and user-centered design
  • Provide training, documentation, and support for Power BI adoption and self-service reporting
  • Collaborate with data engineering and governance teams to ensure data quality and compliance
  • Stay current with advancements in Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and related tools to identify opportunities for innovation

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Advanced Power BI expertise (DAX, Power Query, RLS, shared datasets)
  • Strong data modeling, visualization, and performance tuning skills in large-scale environments
  • Experience with Tableau and Alteryx, including development and migration strategies
  • Proficiency in SQL and working with relational databases/data lakes
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, Azure Synapse, or SQL Server integrations
  • Knowledge of BI governance, metadata management, and access controls
  • Strong business acumen, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills
  • Minimum 5 years in business intelligence, analytics engineering, or data visualization
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Analytics, or related field
  • Professional services or law firm experience.

Preferred:

  • Power BI or Microsoft Azure certification
  • Experience driving BI user adoption and self-service analytics

Skills and Certifications [note: bold skills and certification are required]

  • Strong background in designing, developing, & working with users in creating analytical reports
  • Must be well-versed with PowerBi and Tableau
  • Must also have SQL experience
  • Law firm experience is a plus. Must have professional services experience.
  • PowerBI or MS Certification in Azure is a plus
