Job description

Who Are We?

DV Labs is a remote 30+ member research and software development team with a vision to establish a credibly neutral, trust-minimised infrastructure layer for web3. Previously known as Obol Labs, our work on distributed validators (DVs) boosts the security, resilience, and decentralisation of the Ethereum network.

Our values & Culture

We live by our values - we are: reliable, secure, synergistic, and innovative. These values aren’t just a set of ideals, they’re the foundation of our culture and the key to our success.

At DV Labs, productivity meets work-life balance in perfect harmony - we promote flexibility, trust, and transparency. We believe in connection beyond screens. Our team stays ahead by attending conferences and gathers annually for an offsite event full of collaboration, teamwork, and fun!

The Products

DV Labs develops and maintains three core products:

Charon, a Golang based middleware client enabling multiple nodes or parties to run validators together, in a fault-tolerant manner.

The DV Launchpad, a web interface for launching and managing Distributed Validators.

Obol Splits, a set of solidity contracts assisting with the formation of Distributed Validators, by allowing the ETH bond and validator rewards to be split across multiple parties.

Supporting the Obol Collective

DV Labs supports the Obol Collective: a community dedicated to scaling Ethereum by strengthening the security, resiliency, and decentralisation of the consensus layer through the development and deployment of distributed validators.

Mission of the role

We are looking for a VP of Product that can, with the support of the executive team, define and drive Obol´s product strategy.

Responsible for the Product Vision, Direction, Roadmap and Communication of DV Labs. The next phase of GTM execution should be a collective effort between Product, Business, and Growth to capture the market that we have created.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive Obol’s product vision & strategy to enable growth & success. Scale and lead our product & design organization while maintaining a high-performing culture.
  • Oversee the company’s entire product suite and act as a counterpart for our CTO and provide the Roadmap definition. Define “what are we building” and “why are we building it”.
  • Focus on the software products and services offered by DV Labs. Translate the product roadmap and the steps taken by the product team into board-level appropriate communication.
  • Lead the design of node operator tooling and its accompanying developer experience to enable the deployment of Ethereum infrastructure across retail to enterprise deployment environments. (E.g. Obol Stack, Terraform, Helm, Kubernetes, Ansible and Docker based products).
  • Refine and further develop our solidity products to facilitate the seamless incorporation of DVs into existing Ethereum protocols. Be the customer facing front of these integration efforts. (e.g. Obol Splits).
  • Develop best-in-class onboarding flows for UI and programmatic creation of distributed validators (e.g. DV Launchpad, Obol SDK, Obol API).
  • Develop editable distributed validator clusters, including specifying and overseeing the changes that need to ripple through the rest of the Obol Product Suite to enable such mutability.
  • Analyze product performance and iterate on the product suite’s design to solve challenges that arise when using Obol’s products.
  • Push the distributed validator vision with external clients and public facing outlets. Take ownership of and be accountable for the integration process, ensuring seamless coordination and implementation.
  • Manage and progress the operations of DV Labs by working closely with the Executive team to define strategies to grow and differentiate our product.
  • Ensure products are aligned to the company strategy and to verify that the product team is resourced appropriately.

Requirements

  • Strong technical background (ideally Engineering Degree) , including an understanding of Solidity smart contract design.
  • Should be knowledgeable in the following areas: Protocol design and development, Ethereum validator tech stacks, Ethereum clients, Ethereum Layer 2s.
  • Experience working in the Ethereum Ecosystem (ideally on staking but not mandatory)
  • Preferred time zone: GMT-5 to GMT+3.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation
  • Annual Global Off-site
  • Annual opportunity to attend DevCon (or a blockchain conference of choice)
  • Generous paid time off
  • Budget for personal equipment

Thank you for your interest. Looking forward to building amazing stuff together!
