Job Description:
Blue Water Thinking is seeking an experienced and dedicated Health Services Subject Matter Expert to join our team, supporting a large program within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of VHA healthcare and medical center operations, cultivated over 20+ years of direct experience.
Responsibilities:
- Leverage extensive knowledge of health care delivery to integrate new work products with existing operations.
- Provide expert guidance on all aspects of medical center operations.
- Act as a liaison between the project team and VA stakeholders, ensuring alignment with VA healthcare policies and procedures.
- Monitor and assess healthcare delivery to identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with various VA departments to ensure the comprehensive and efficient delivery of healthcare services to Veterans.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Nursing, or related field, or an additional 8 years of relevant experience may be substituted for degree requirements.
- Minimum of 20 years of experience working in VHA healthcare and familiarity with all aspects of medical center operations.
- Past executive-level healthcare experience that has led or contributed to setting vision and direction for a large and complex healthcare organization, preferably with VHA and/or the Department of Defense Healthcare System.
- Experience developing strategic and tactical plans, communicating policy and information to large organizations, supporting financial and acquisition and/or electronic health records systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Health Administration, Public Health, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in VA healthcare policy development and implementation.
- Previous experience working with the department of Veterans Affairs or military health systems.
- Experience managing projects that involve integration of medical, behavioral, and social health systems.

Eligibility:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the required federal public trust clearance for this role.
Compensation:
Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, location, the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements. The proposed salary range for this position is outlined below:
Salary range: $160,000 - $190,000
