As we expand into Bulgaria, we are seeking a Senior Manager, Public APIs to lead a team focused on the development and growth of our public API offerings, allowing our customers to integrate Smartsheet with other enterprise tools and create custom workflows to improve productivity.
You will report to the Engineering Director, based in Bulgariaand can work remotely in Bulgaria.
You Will:
- Lead and manage a high-performing team of engineers responsible for building and maintaining Smartsheet’s public APIs.
- Define and drive API strategy aligned with customer needs and business goals.
- Architect and design scalable, secure, high-performance API services.
- Foster collaboration across engineering teams to improve integration experiences.
- Develop best practices for API development and ensure platform robustness.
- Own the API lifecycle from design to ongoing maintenance and uptime.
- Mentor engineers and build a strong, cohesive, and high-performing team.
- Report progress of API initiatives to senior leadership.
- Manage on-call rotations for critical API services.
- What You Will Achieve in Your First 360 Days:
- First 30 days: Understand API infrastructure and team projects, meet stakeholders.
- 60–90 days: Optimize team performance and introduce best practices.
- 6 months: Deliver high-impact API features with measurable value.
- 360 days: Position Smartsheet as a leader in the API ecosystem
You Have:
- 10+ years in software development, 5+ in API development/management.
- 5+ years managing engineering teams with a strong mentoring record.
- Expertise in RESTful APIs, security, versioning, and best practices.
- Proven experience in scalable architecture and cloud-based systems.
- Strong Agile experience and stakeholder communication skills.
- Passion for leadership and mentoring.
- Eligibility to work in Bulgaria long-term
