We founded AAPC in 1988 to train and certify medical coders, initially for physicians’ offices. Since then, we have grown to include training and credentials in documentation, coding audits, regulatory compliance, and physician practice management.

We also offer specialty coding credentials in 20 different fields.

We provide continuing education through local chapters, workshops, webinars, our monthly newsmagazine Healthcare Business Monthly, other publications, and conferences. We develop medical coding and billing courses, certification exams, study guides, and software like Codify.

We conduct workforce analytics for the non-clinical healthcare sector, analyzing labor markets, role classifications, skills, and workforce trends.
