About ACLU Racial Justice Project
We founded the ACLU Racial Justice Project in 1920. Our goal is to ensure the United States Constitution’s guarantees apply to everyone.
We do this through legal advocacy, lawsuits, and public education campaigns at both state and federal levels. Our work covers many civil liberties issues. For example, we defend trans youth rights, advocate for immigrants, and challenge discriminatory practices. This includes opposing legislative actions affecting transgender individuals, addressing executive orders on birthright citizenship, and fighting immigration raids.
We also work on criminal law reform, including issues like gun possession and marijuana use. We defend voting rights by litigating cases, advising affiliates, and encouraging voter participation.
