About Active Minds, Inc.

We are a mental health nonprofit founded in 2003. We mobilize young people to change mental health norms across society. For over 20 years, we have trained peer mental health advocates through programs like our Chapter Network, A.S.K. (Acknowledge, Support, Keep-in-Touch), and Send Silence Packing. Our initiatives and campaigns aim to change how young people perceive and discuss mental health, encouraging them to use their voices to influence conversations and inform mental health support in their communities. We specialize in mental health education, college students, and suicide prevention.

We engage young adults through programs like Active Minds Trailblazers, which includes graduates from the Mental Health Advocacy Academy who inform policy priorities. The Alumni Board is made up of young professionals who help the community transition into the workforce and integrate mental health advocacy into their careers. Our Youth Council for A.S.K. works with external partners to get direct input on urgent mental health concerns from young people, particularly young BIPOC and LGBTQ+ adults. The MEASURE Learning Community involves young people in analyzing and giving feedback on data collection. The Your Voice is Your Power Advisory Board develops self- and community advocacy resources for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ youth and young adults. We have over 350,000 social media followers and an online store that sells merchandise.

Benefits & Perks

We offer a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees, including medical, dental, and vision coverage. Employees can also participate in a flexible spending account (FSA).

Full-time employees receive 5 paid sick days per year, which can be carried over. Annual leave starts at 15 days per year and increases up to 20 days with tenure. We observe 11 paid holidays and provide 10 organization-wide mental health days annually. Full-time employees are eligible for 12 weeks of paid parental leave. We offer a 401(k) retirement plan with a 3% employer match.

Other benefits include life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, and a wellness reimbursement program of up to $200 annually for approved wellness expenses. Full-time employees also get a $750 annual professional development stipend. Our work environment is remote-friendly.

For external speakers, we provide compensation per event, with rates varying by format and audience. All travel expenses for in-person events are covered.
