Join our new office in Sofia as an Aircraft Quotation Engineer (internally known as Repair Cost Engineer). Reporting to the Head of Technical Services, this role is an integral part of the Technical and Compliance Team within the Company’s operations.
The Repair Cost Engineer is a specialist role that exists to ensure that aircraft component maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) activity is both technically sound and commercially optimised. Working closely with experienced Value Engineers, the Technical Services, Procurement, and Repairs team, and external repair Vendors, the role is responsible for challenging repair costs, analysing technical and commercial repair data, and supporting high-quality decisions across repair, replacement, BER, and market value scenarios.
Key Duties:
Deliver robust repair cost analysis and informed commercial recommendations
Review supplier quotations, teardown findings and repair recommendations for aircraft components
Assess repair versus replacement economics, BER considerations and fair market value impacts
Work with Value Engineers to develop should-cost analysis using labour, material, process and market factors
Support decisions relating to overhaul, repair development, scrap, exchange or alternative sourcing
Analyse the commercial impact of modifications, Service Bulletins, reliability trends and repair scope changes
Produce clear recommendations to stakeholders, balancing technical benefits and commercial value.
Drive value through supplier challenge, negotiation support and repair optimisation
Work closely with Procurement, Repairs, Technical Services and Value Engineering teams to challenge repair pricing and scope
Support negotiation with suppliers using data-led cost models and technical-commercial reasoning
Identify opportunities for repair cost reduction, alternative repair pathways, PMA opportunities and improved value outcomes
Contribute to repair vendor contract evaluations
Support the review of CID/FOD cases and linked cost reimbursement from customers
Assist in improving repair strategies to deliver better long-term cost and reliability
Build insights through data, reporting and continuous improvement
Help create and maintain meaningful repair cost models, reports and performance analysis
Monitor actual vs expected repair costs and identify trends, deviations and risk areas
Analyse cost drivers by Part Number, Vendor, repair type and fleet context
Provide data to support repair decisions, supplier performance reviews and component strategy development · Contribute to process improvement, automation and better use of systems, technology and data tools
Requirements
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical and commercial information together
Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to present findings and challenge costs constructively
Strong attention to detail and the ability to consolidate complex information into clear recommendations
Commercial awareness and a cost-conscious mindset, with a focus on value creation and margin protection
Ability to prioritise workload, manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure
Good stakeholder management skills and the ability to work across technical, commercial and operational teams
Strong Excel and data manipulation skills, with the ability to analyse large datasets and present conclusions clearly
Experience in cost driver analysis or financial evaluation within an engineering or MRO environment
Understanding of commercial aerospace component repair processes and cost structures
Ability to interpret technical data such as CMMs, findings reports, AMM, and repair quotations
Awareness of component reliability concepts, such as MTBUR/MTBF and their impact on repair economics
Familiarity with PBH (Power-by-Hour) and repair contracts would be advantageous
Experience with digital costing tools or ERP systems, such as Quantum or AMOS, would be advantageous
Candidates with strong practical experience in aviation, aerospace, MRO, technical procurement or engineering cost analysis are encouraged to apply
