Job Description
We are currently seeking a qualified Project Controls Specialist to join our team, based out of Saskatoon, SK. This position is perfect for a tech-savvy individual who is eager to learn new systems, advance their career, and deepen their knowledge in Project Controls – Cost Control. The successful candidate will have prior working experience in an EPC environment (owner or execution) and are familiar with the set-up and implementation of Project Controls systems and procedures in front-end and execution phase engineering and construction projects and programs. Our new Saskatoon office is a strategic cornerstone in our multi‑sector growth plan, enabling us to support mining, energy transition, and industrial projects across Saskatchewan and Western Canada. Bantrel is working with K+S Potash Canada (K+S) as an Integrated Project Management Team (IPMT) to expand production at K+S’s Bethune solution potash mine near Moose Jaw and Regina, Saskatchewan. The final production capacity is intended to grow over the next decades to 4M tonnes per year, doubling the current production output of potash. Key team members will support the project from the K+S head office in Saskatoon and at Bethune mine, with additional support from Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto as required.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supports implementation of the Project Controls Plan for the assigned project.
- Understands development of project WBS and establishment of project code of accounts.
- Collects incurred cost and forecast data specific to Engineering and Procurement contracts.
- Maintains project control software. Implements requirements for cost recording and reporting.
- Formulates and prepares cost related reports, as directed.
- Supports system set-up and monitors engineering and procurement progress.
- Supports set-up and roll-out of the project change management system.
- Maintains cost budgets and accurate cost forecasts utilizing the project change management system.
- Supports, sets-up and performs ongoing cost flow analysis.
- Supports system set-up and maintains field quantity unit rate reports.
- Monitors performance against plan.
- Assists in preparing cost data for proposals and contract negotiations.
- Assists with project financial reporting per Bantrel and/or client requirements.
- Supports the re-cast of project estimates into manageable cost control budgets per project requirements.
- Gathers historical project data for close-out reporting. Supports preparation of the Project Historical Report.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree, business degree or technical diploma and relevant work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in an EPC environment is required.
- Strong understanding of cost engineering, project management control concepts.
- Demonstrable continuing self-development relative to the management control of major capital expenditure projects in mining and infrastructure and/or energy and petrochemical processing industries.
- An aptitude for numerical data analysis. Fluency in MS Office 365 suite.
- Project performance systems proficiency in Hexagon EcoSys or equivalent would be advantageous, and some experience with Excel Power Queries, Power BI and Power Apps is preferred.
- Must possess good interpersonal and teamworking skills.
