Job Description
We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Creator Platform team within our Studio. At Dailymotion, we believe every creator deserves world-class tools to succeed. Our Creator Platform is the engine that empowers thousands of creators (from independent artists to major media companies) to share their content with audiences worldwide. This team is at the heart of our Studio organization: we design and develop the tools and services that enable creators to succeed across the Dailymotion ecosystem.
Join our Creator Platform team, and you’ll build products with direct, measurable impact: every feature you ship helps creators upload more easily, monetize better, and grow their audience. You’ll collaborate with product, design, data, and engineering teams on features that directly impact how creators manage their content on Dailymotion.
What you’ll do
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs that power creator features on Dailymotion
- Work with our primarily Python stack alongside legacy PHP systems in both monolithic and microservice architectures
- Solve complex technical challenges around video processing, content management, creator workflows, and platform scalability
- Make pragmatic architectural decisions, balancing technical excellence, creator needs, and business objectives
- Produce clear and comprehensive technical specifications that facilitate collaboration across engineering teams
- Be highly responsive in your communications respond quickly to questions, provide regular updates, and keep stakeholders informed
- Actively participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and learning from others
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code that others can understand and evolve
- Champion engineering best practices: testing, documentation, observability, and operational excellence
Qualifications
✅ Must-haves
- 5+ years of backend development experience shipping production systems at scale
- Python mastery: it’s your daily tool. Experience with PHP (or willingness to work on legacy PHP codebases)
- Solid backend fundamentals: APIs, databases, caching, queuing systems, distributed systems
- Modern backend architecture: distributed systems, async processing, event-driven architectures
- API design expertise: REST, GraphQL, or similar
- Cloud infrastructure: hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Containerization and orchestration: Docker and related tools
- Git, CI/CD, and modern dev workflows: you’re comfortable with all of it
- Autonomy: you’re used to working independently and shipping without constant supervision
- English is mandatory: it’s the team’s daily working language. French is a plus.
📍 Location: Paris with 3 days remote per week
🌱 Nice-to-haves
- Comfortable using AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.) to prototype, debug, test, or document while understanding their limitations
- Startup or production company experience where you had to make do with limited resources
- Skilled at writing clear, comprehensive technical specs that actually help other teams
- Highly responsive communicator: teammates can count on quick replies and updates
⭐ What will really make the difference
You thrive in ambiguity, love diving into unfamiliar code, and navigate complex systems even when documentation is sparse (or nonexistent). You prefer autonomy over micromanagement, turn messy problems into clean solutions, and always keep creator needs front and center.
