Job Description
Our Why
Datacom works with organisations and communities across Australia and New Zealand to make a difference in people’s lives and help organisations use the power of tech to innovate and grow.
About the Role (Your Why)
We’re looking for a commercially sharp Commercial Analyst to join our Commercial & Bids team — someone who combines strong financial modelling instincts with a forward-leaning approach to AI-enabled analysis.
This is a role for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of pricing, deal economics, bid support, and contract governance across a dynamic SaaS portfolio. You’ll bring analytical depth and attention to detail, while actively leveraging AI tools for scenario modelling, bid content quality assurance, and contract risk analysis — with your own judgement and commercial rigour applied to every output.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who brings strong commercial thinking, analytical capability, and a high level of accuracy. You’ll be comfortable working across multiple opportunities at once and confident collaborating with stakeholders across commercial, sales, bid, and product teams.
- 3–6 years of experience in commercial analysis, pricing, bid support, or deal desk roles
- Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, including margin, cost-to-serve, and scenario analysis
- Experience supporting bids, proposals, or commercial responses
- Confidence working with spreadsheets and data analysis tools
- Strong written skills, with the ability to prepare clear and accurate commercial content
- Confidence using AI tools for commercial analysis, and an interest in prompt engineering to automate and quality-assure outputs
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- A Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related discipline
The following would also be highly regarded
- Experience in a B2B SaaS or multi-product technology environment
- Exposure to government procurement, ANZ public sector requirements, or enterprise contract negotiation
- Familiarity with AI or automation tools used in analysis, document generation, or quality review
- Understanding of SaaS commercial metrics such as ARR, ACV, CAC, and LTV
- SQL or data querying skills
- APMP certification, bid management training, or financial modelling qualifications
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain pricing models for SaaS products and support scenario analysis for complex deals
- Conduct cost-to-serve analysis, margin modelling, and competitive pricing benchmarking to support deal positioning
- Support business case development and opportunity analysis for key pursuits
- Track and report on deal economics including ACV, discount rates, and margin performance
- Contribute to bid responses by preparing pricing schedules, commercial content, compliance documentation, and other supporting materials
- Help maintain bid content and commercial artefacts so they remain current, accurate, and reusable
- Support contract governance activities, including review of commercial terms and risk identification
- Use AI-enabled tools to support pricing analysis, bid content quality assurance, and contract risk flagging — and apply prompt engineering to improve and automate commercial workflows
- Use AI tools to analyse historical bid performance and identify patterns to inform future responses
- Track commercial metrics and pipeline activity across bids and opportunities
