Job Description
Our Why
Datacom works with organisations and communities across Australia and New Zealand to make a difference in people’s lives and help organisations use the power of tech to innovate and grow.
About the Role (your why)
You’ll be joining our SaaS Growth and Revenue team as a Demand Generation Specialist, focused on driving growth for Datacom’s Datapay and Datascape SaaS solutions.
This role’s mandate is simple: create pipeline and unlock growth. You’ll combine disciplined outbound execution with smart account engagement and experimentation with modern GTM tools and AI-enabled techniques. The role sits at the front line of our go-to-market engine — identifying opportunities, building relationships across complex organisations, and converting market interest into qualified pipeline for our sales teams.
Our offices are based in Auckland. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/life balance. We therefore leave it to you and the team you join to figure out what works best!
What you’ll do
At the moment, as Demand Generation Specialist, you will be focused on:
- Generate demand across channels. Driving inbound and outbound demand generation activity across channels such as phone, email, LinkedIn, and web.
- Use AI tools to research and tailor outreach to target accounts, ensuring relevance and impact.
- Build relevance with councils and complex organisations, tailoring outreach to real operational pains instead of generic pitches.
- Nurturing opportunities through complex sales cycles with consistent, value-based touchpoints.
- Deepening contact networks and mapping stakeholders within key organisations.
- Testing and experimenting with new outreach techniques, messaging, channels, and emerging technology including AI-enabled tools, and reporting on effectiveness.
- Collaborating with Sales and Pre-Sales teams to hand off qualified opportunities with full context.
- Maintaining accurate records in Salesforce for pipeline visibility and account engagement tracking.
Datacom moves quickly. As customer needs, technology, and our go-to-market strategy evolve, the role will evolve with it — creating opportunities to broaden your capability and impact over time.
What you’ll bring
Required experience:
- 3–5 years in demand generation, outbound prospecting, or business development in a B2B, SaaS, or technology environment.
- Knowledge of multi-channel prospecting approaches and outbound demand generation principles.
- Strong interest and practical experience using AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, automation tools) to improve how you work — not just awareness of them.
- Skilled in CRM-based lead and pipeline management.
- Strong verbal and written communication with proven ability to build rapport across multiple varied stakeholder levels.
- Consistent high-volume outbound activity and ability to manage multiple accounts concurrently.
Nice to have:
- Experience nurturing accounts through long sales cycles.
- Exposure to SaaS solutions such as Payroll, ERP, workforce management, or financial services.
- Familiarity with LinkedIn Sales Navigator, outreach platforms (Outreach, Salesloft), and AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude.
- Insight into HR, Finance, or Operations buying processes, and council purchasing behaviour.
