The Role
The Data Centre 24x7 Facilities Engineer role carries “on shift” operational responsibility for all facility activity within all the Data Centres through NZ and AU. Coordinating Facility Incidents, tasks, maintenance and on-site resources in collaboration with the Operations Enablement team, 24x7 Operations Managers and the Site Facility Managers.
Responsibilities:
Zero downtime at any site is a specific deliverable of this role.
Data centre Systems / Environments responsible for;
- Mechanical
- Electrical
- Fire
- Security
- Data Centre building and grounds
- Control and monitoring Systems
- Data Centre communication cabling infrastructure
Monitoring the Data Centre infrastructure control and monitoring tools for any warnings or alarms.
Managing the Data Centre facilities incidents through to resolution using set procedures MOP’s and escalations.
Acting as a point of escalation whilst “on shift” for facility issues and incidents.
Ensure all facility tasks are completed and status updated in Task Scheduler during your shift.
Major Incident Management
- Support on-site Operational and Facility teams in event of a major incident
- Escalation and co-ordinator for major Facility incidents
- Ensure Major Incident Documentation is up to date for each data centre
- Work with appropriate teams and stakeholders to undertake robust incident scenario testing for each data centre.
Initial creator of incident reports for Facility related incidents.
Ensuring that there is total consistency with processes / MOPS and how we generally provide the facilities service across all our data centres.
Monitor and supervising maintenance contractors whilst on shift to ensure that they are providing the service that has been contracted.
Working with the rest of the facilities group and the General Manager Data Centres Facilities to ensure you get the required training to have a thorough understanding of how the data centres operate, identify / manage risk and can respond and act accordingly in a fault/emergency situation.
Ensure the data centre ACMS system is kept up to date
