Job Description
Our Why
Datacom works with organisations and communities across Australia and New Zealand to make a difference in people’s lives and help organisations use the power of tech to innovate and grow.
About the Role (Your Why)
At Datacom, we believe technology has the power to transform businesses and the communities they serve. As our General Manager – Networks Operations, you won’t just be leading a team — you’ll be shaping the future direction of one of Datacom’s most critical functional areas.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy, technology, and people. You’ll have the autonomy to build and own the Networks strategy for Australia, influencing how we go to market, how we serve our customers, and how we grow. Your decisions will have real, meaningful impact on the success of the business — and the careers of the people around you.
If you’re a seasoned IT leader who is energised by complexity, motivated by customer outcomes, and ready to leave a lasting mark on a business that genuinely cares about its people, this is the role for you.
What You Will Do
- Own the strategy — Develop and implement the Networks Australia strategy, aligned to the broader Datacom direction, collaborating with senior leaders to set clear objectives and drive results
- Lead go-to-market — Work alongside Sales, Presales, and Technical teams to deliver an aligned, growth-focused approach that creates mutual value for Datacom and our customers
- Manage key relationships — Build and maintain strong partnerships with external agencies and suppliers, negotiating contracts and service levels that meet both strategic and financial goals
- Drive financial performance — Take accountability for budgets, forecasting, expense management, and ensuring operational objectives are achieved efficiently and effectively
- Lead a broad team — Take ownership of a layered team structure with direct reports spanning three levels, leading through a management structure to set clear expectations, develop talent, and drive performance across the entire Network Operations Australia function
- Build industry presence — Represent Datacom through active involvement in relevant industry bodies, using those connections to deepen your expertise and ensure our Networks strategy is informed by the latest market developments

- A strategic thinker who can see the big picture while staying connected to the detail
- Strong business acumen with the ability to translate customer requirements into technical solutions
- Significant experience working within a NOC or MSP environment, with a deep appreciation for the pace, complexity, and customer focus required to deliver operational excellence at scale
