Job Description
Our Why
Datacom works with organisations and communities across Australia and New Zealand to make a difference in people’s lives and help organisations use the power of tech to innovate and grow.
The Role
As a Solution Architect specialising in Integration, you are the face of Datacom’s integration capability. This is not a back-office delivery role. You will work directly with some of the region’s most significant organisations — shaping ideas, running discovery workshops, influencing architecture decisions, and translating complex business problems into elegant, scalable solutions.
You know how to zoom out to see the big picture, then zoom in when the detail matters. You’re equally comfortable leading a pre-sales conversation with a C-suite client as you are rolling up your sleeves to bring a solution to life. And as a senior team member, you’ll mentor others and help drive the strategic direction of our practice — including how AI is reshaping the way we design and deliver integration solutions.
If you thrive on complex challenges, energise in front of senior stakeholders, and get excited about where integration and AI are heading — this role was built for you!
What You’ll Do:
Client-Facing Consulting & Pre-Sales
- Act as a trusted integration advisor — the expert clients want in the room.
- Lead discovery workshops, architecture deep-dives, and design sessions.
- Partner with sales teams on pre-sales, solution shaping, and bid responses.
Solution Architecture & Design
- Design robust, secure, and scalable integration architectures across a modern toolset.
- Apply API-led connectivity, event-driven architecture, and asynchronous messaging patterns.
- Define future-state architectures aligned to cloud, modernisation, and AI strategies.
Delivery Leadership & Mentoring
- Lead complex integration implementations across the full SDLC.
- Uphold best practices, security standards, and enterprise architecture principles.
- Mentor delivery teams and lift capability across the practice.
Modernisation, AI & Innovation
- Assess legacy landscapes and build actionable modernisation roadmaps.
- Prototype and present AI-enabled integration use cases.
- Help lead Datacom’s push to put AI at the forefront of our integration solutions.
What You’ll Bring:
Technical Expertise
- 7+ years delivering enterprise integration solutions.
- Hands-on with integration platforms and technologies — e.g. MuleSoft, Azure Integration Services, Kafka, Solace, Kong, Java Spring, Dell Boomi etc.
- Strong API design knowledge — REST, versioning, security, and governance.
- DevOps and CI/CD (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Git CI/CD).
- Cloud — Azure or AWS.
- Containers — Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, EKS, AKS.
- Practical AI experience in integration contexts is a real plus.
Consulting & Communication
- Proven experience consulting directly with enterprise customers.
- Confident leading workshops and executive-level conversations.
- Able to make complex technical concepts land clearly with any audience.
Future-Focused Mindset
- Genuinely curious about AI-enabled integration and intelligent applications.
- Adaptable, continuously learning, and always looking at what’s next.
Nice to Have
- Technical pre-sales or bid response experience.
- Enterprise or regulated industry background.
