Please Note: This is a Utah-based hybrid position which will require some regular in-office days each week. Additionally, employment with BambooHR is contingent on passing both a background and credit check.
Essential Job Duties
As a Product Design Intern at BambooHR, you’ll gain hands-on experience contributing to real product work while learning from experienced designers in a collaborative, supportive environment. You’ll be embedded within a cross-functional product team and exposed to the full design process—from understanding user problems to exploring solutions and seeing designs implemented.
This internship is ideal for students or early-career designers who are excited to grow their skills in UX and UI design while contributing to products used by thousands of HR professionals.
You will:
- Support the design of new and existing product features by creating user flows, wireframes, and basic prototypes.
- Participate in user research activities such as usability testing, interviews, and feedback reviews to help inform design decisions.
- Collaborate closely with product designers, product managers, and engineers to learn how design fits into a SaaS product development process.
- Contribute to visual design work and screen mockups while learning and applying BambooHR’s UI standards and design system.
- Observe and participate in design critiques, team discussions, and cross-functional reviews.
- Work alongside your design mentor to iterate on solutions and grow your design craft.
- Work in harmony with team core hours: 9AM–5PM MST, Monday–Friday (with Tuesday and Thursday in-office).
What You Need to Get the Job Done
- Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a degree or certification in design, HCI, UX, or a related field.
- A portfolio (student or personal work is welcome) that demonstrates foundational skills in UX thinking, interaction design, and visual design.
- Basic familiarity with design tools such as Figma or similar.
- Interest in SaaS products and curiosity about how complex software can be made intuitive.
- Strong communication skills and openness to feedback.
- A growth mindset and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
