About Ethereum Foundation
We support the Ethereum ecosystem. Our research covers computer science, distributed systems, crypto-economics, mechanism design, blockchain systems, cryptography, and protocol security. For example, we work on Stateless Consensus, zkEVM-related challenges, and developing Ethereum Execution Layer specifications and tests with the STEEL team. We also analyze and coordinate EU policy, translating technical issues for different audiences. We build and maintain relationships with major financial stakeholders to help integrate Ethereum into the enterprise sector.
Team & Culture
We’re a team of 201-500 people. We work remotely, giving employees the flexibility to manage their schedules from anywhere. For some roles, most synchronous work happens from 2pm UTC onwards. Internships are also remote, though we sometimes prefer interns to work from an EF office like the one in Berlin. Interns also have in-person meetups. We frequently collaborate with our researchers, external partners, and others in the Ethereum ecosystem. Some roles require travel to events such as Devcon, Devconnect, and AI Γ Ethereum workshops. We also offer co-working spaces at local hubs like Ethereum House SF. Employees can work anonymously or pseudonymously, subject to KYC requirements.
Benefits & Perks
We offer full location independence and remote work, with flexible time-off and competitive pay. Interns receive monthly stipends between $5,000 and $8,000. Employees can publish their research on platforms like ethresear.ch, in academic journals, or through blogs and conference submissions. We encourage collaboration with our researchers and other contributors in the Ethereum ecosystem. Interns attend in-person cohort meetups during the summer. Some positions involve travel to events such as Devcon, Devconnect, and AI Γ Ethereum workshops. Co-working is available at hubs like Ethereum House SF. You can also work anonymously or pseudonymously, provided you meet KYC requirements.
