About the Team

Secret Media Network (SMN) is a global digital media group focused on recommending the best plans, discovering great places, sharing things to do, and delivering relevant breaking news in cities around the world. Our portfolio includes well-known city-based brands such as Secret London, Secret NYC, Secret LA, Secret Chicago, Secret Sydney, Lisboa Secreta, Paris Secret, Madrid Secreto, Barcelona Secreta, and many more.

Our content reaches millions of readers every month through highly optimized editorial articles, newsletters, and social media platforms. We combine local expertise with strong SEO strategies to ensure our content is discoverable, engaging, and impactful.

Internship Opportunity Overview

To support ongoing editorial production while several senior writers focus on a special internal project, Secret Media Network is offering four (4) paid editorial internship positions within our Content & Editorial team.

These internships are designed to provide students with hands-on experience in digital journalism, SEO-driven content creation, and social media publishing within a fast-paced international media environment, working closely with local editors and the wider international editorial team.

Internship Responsibilities:

You will take an active role in the day-to-day editorial operations, gaining exposure to the full lifecycle of digital content production.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Researching, pitching, and writing engaging editorial articles tailored to a specific city market
  • Producing accurate, informative, and SEO-optimized content at pace
  • Learning and applying SEO best practices to ensure strong search engine positioning
  • Monitoring and updating daily site content, including news, features, and local reporting
  • Researching and becoming knowledgeable about venues, events, restaurants, and cultural trends in the assigned city
  • Managing and contributing to an editorial calendar alongside editors and fellow writers
  • Supporting coverage of trending stories, seasonal campaigns, and long-lead features
  • Proofreading articles and headlines to meet SMN editorial standards and style guidelines
  • Assisting with social media amplification across META platforms.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for motivated, curious, and creative students who demonstrate:

  • Proficiency in the role’s required language (English, French, or Portuguese)
  • Fluency in English
  • Previous experience or strong interest in digital writing or journalism
  • A strong sense of what makes content engaging and shareable on social media
  • Familiarity with digital publishing tools and social platforms
  • An organized and proactive approach to managing tasks and deadlines
  • A genuine interest in city life, culture, food, entertainment, and local news
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced editorial environment

Internship Duration & Start Dates

Each internship has a 6-month duration, with two possible intake periods:

  • 1st of March – 31st of August
  • 1st of September – 31st of March
  • Schedule: 14:00 – 19:00

This part-time structure is designed to be compatible with university schedules.
