Position Overview
The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for a large, complex commercial property. This individual will work closely with property management and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting, financial analysis, and operational support.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare monthly financial statements, including:
- Bank reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and reclasses
- Variance analysis and balance sheet reconciliations
- Cash flow projections and capital spending tracking
Lead month-end close processes for assigned property
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and lease administration
Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
Support CAM and real estate tax reconciliations (in coordination with internal specialists)
Prepare audit workpapers and supporting schedules
Analyze lease agreements, tenant activity, and financial impacts
Assist with cash management and treasury functions
Partner with property management on tenant account reconciliations
Support ad hoc reporting and special projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of commercial property accounting experience ( non-residential required)
- Experience with MRI software strongly preferred (Yardi considered with strong CRE background)
- Strong understanding of:
- Commercial lease structures
- CAM/operating expense recoveries
- Mixed-use / retail property accounting
- Ability to manage complex reporting with minimal oversight
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
