About Gridware
Gridware is a technology company founded in San Francisco in 2020. We protect and improve the electrical grid. We developed Active Grid Response (AGR), a system that monitors the electrical, physical, and environmental conditions affecting grid reliability and safety. Our platform uses mechanical sensors to detect issues early, allowing for proactive maintenance and fault mitigation. This helps improve safety, reduce outages, and ensure efficient grid operation. We partner with utility companies to prevent hazards, restore power, and extend the life of their assets. Our tools have accumulated over 90 million field hours.
Mission & Values
Our mission is to end Hazard Awareness Delay—the gap between when grid problems happen and when they’re discovered. We arm line workers with the information they need to fix the grid instead of searching for problems. This helps utilities act faster, keep communities safe, and build a more reliable, resilient, and wildfire-resistant grid.
Our core values guide our culture and decisions:
- Show up: Be present in a timely way.
- Find a way: Approach problems with a “can do” mentality.
- Deliver quality, quickly: Do work well and efficiently.
- Embrace growth: Continuously learn and improve, accepting that failing is part of the process.
- Foster trust: Be honest, self-aware, and follow through on commitments.
- Disagree, decide, commit: Share perspectives, and once a team decision is made, commit to it.
- Respect the team: Be kind, listen, and support others.
- Bring the joy: Practice optimism and keep interactions light.
Team & Culture
We have between 51 and 200 employees. Our company was co-founded by a lineman who became an engineer, and this background shapes our approach to developing tools “for linemen.” We value diversity of thought and encourage active participation and constructive disagreement, seeing them as essential for innovation. Our culture is built on presence, problem-solving, efficiency, continuous learning, trust, teamwork, and optimism.
