Job Description
As a Payroll Consultant, you will deliver high-quality Tier 1 and Tier 2 payroll advice and services across a diverse client portfolio of academic and professional staff. You will combine technical payroll expertise with strong advisory capability to ensure compliance, accuracy and an exceptional client experience.
Here’s how you’ll make it matter:
Analyse and process complex payroll transactions across fixed-term, continuing, casual and sessional appointments within PeopleSoft HCM, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
Provide expert advice to employees and managers on payroll legislation, entitlements, salary packaging, WorkCover and HR policy matters.
Manage payroll master data, maintain executive and senior staff records, and administer benefits and compliance-related processes.
Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external bodies to deliver seamless, client-focused payroll services.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with the University’s Integrity Program and Fraud and Corruption Control Framework.
About you
What matters most is your ability to combine technical precision with professional judgement and client-focused advisory skills.
You will bring:
Relevant tertiary qualifications or an equivalent combination of payroll and HR experience.
Demonstrated experience processing and analysing complex payroll and HR master data, ideally within a large or enterprise environment.
Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance obligations and HR policies.
Experience using HRIS systems, preferably PeopleSoft HCM.
Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to manage competing priorities with accuracy and discretion.
Experience working within an internal HR or People Services environment (highly regarded).
What we can offer
This is a continuing, full time position primarily based at the Griffith University Brisbane South (Nathan). As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations.
Griffith University’s sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 7 range $101,068 - $109,496 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $118,249 - $128,110 per annum.
