We’re building a mental healthcare system to make care more accessible. Our platform helps therapists accept health insurance, allowing them to grow their practices and enabling patients to find affordable mental healthcare.

We founded Headway in 2019 because high costs prevent many Americans from getting the mental health treatment they need, largely because most therapists don’t accept insurance. We’ve developed a software network of therapists who accept various health insurance plans. As of 2024, we help schedule over 600,000 appointments each month.

We’ve raised over $325 million from investors like a16z, Thrive, Accel, GV, Spark Capital, Forerunner Ventures, and Health Care Service Corporation. Our work involves partnering with insurance providers, developing our product, and building relationships with care partners, health systems, and medical clinics to connect more patients with affordable care.

Our mission is to improve access to and affordability of mental healthcare. We aim to transform mental health care nationwide by creating a network that helps therapists accept insurance and connect with more patients.
