Develops industrial software, including the Ignition platform for SCADA, IIoT, and MES applications.

About Inductive Automation

Steve Hechtman founded Inductive Automation in 2003 to develop industrial software, primarily our Ignition platform.

Ignition is a universal industrial application platform that combines IT with SCADA technologies. It lets organizations build applications for SCADA, IIoT, MES, HMI, historian, alarming, and reporting. The software connects to SQL databases, PLCs (via OPC servers and built-in OPC UA), SMTP, VOIP, SMS, serial devices, web services, and MQTT.

Ignition uses a server-centric, web-based deployment model, which allows for unlimited clients, tags, and connections with one server license. It runs on Windows 1011, Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022, 2025, Linux, and macOS. The platform can be deployed on PCs, laptops, servers, tablets, smartphones, remote field devices, and Raspberry Pis.

Our products are used by thousands of companies, including 69% of Fortune 100 companies. We operate in the Automation Machinery Manufacturing industry and have offices in Folsom, California (Headquarters) and Spring Hill, QLD, Australia.
