Job Description

As an Associate Manager within our Fund Accounting team, you will be responsible for handling complex, day‑to‑day accounting matters and serving as subject matter experts within their domains. For areas still developing, you will collaborate closely with your manager, who sets training and development goals for all staff. You will play a key role in delivering on‑the‑job training and coaching, ensuring team members advance as quickly as their talent allows. You will be accountable for producing accurate, well-presented work that meets established quality standards, while partnering with Managers across various expertise areas to deliver the best solutions for clients and provide tailored training for staff needs. Additionally, you will actively support the Manager in management reporting and overall team development.

What You’ll Do -

  • Work Management & Quality Control: Maintain accurate work‑planning status, ensure compliance with methodologies, regulations, and software standards, and deliver error‑free, high‑quality fund accounting work while escalating issues appropriately.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Delegate tasks effectively, set deadlines, coach and train staff, identify skill gaps, provide feedback, encourage creativity, resolve conflicts, and foster an open and motivating team environment.
  • Performance Monitoring: Oversee team workload and quality, answer queries, support problem‑solving, track team goals, monitor performance metrics, and report progress to the Manager.
  • Operational & Client Responsibilities: Participate in client billing discussions, raise ad hoc invoices, help maintain low debtor balances and strong cash collection, and support management reporting requirements.
  • Policy & Compliance: Adhere to internal policies including WFH conventions, protect information assets under ISMS, collaborate with the Manager for planning and staff matters, and be willing to work outside standard hours to ensure deliverables are met.

Qualifications

  • Degree holder with a full professional accounting qualification (such as ACCA or ACA), plus at least 6 years of relevant Fund Accounting experience and 1 year of people‑management experience.
  • Strong mastery of accounting standards including IFRS and relevant GAAPs.
  • Proven experience managing senior-level client operational relationships and a solid understanding of performance metrics.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PFS‑Paxus, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
  • Additional advantage: familiarity with tools such as Investran, PFS Paxus, and 5‑Series (Microgen).
