Job Description
IQ‑EQ is strengthening its commercial presence across Greater China and is seeking an experienced Business Development Director to lead strategic growth initiatives within the Private Wealth sector. This senior role focuses on direct selling and cross‑selling our suite of services to Family Offices, Multi‑Family Offices, institutions, and high‑net‑worth individuals, while working closely with our Asia leadership team.
As a key member of the regional commercial function, you will drive revenue growth, build deep market relationships, and represent IQ‑EQ as a trusted advisor in one of our most important markets.
Business Development and Lead Generation
- Identify new business prospects through targeted research and innovative sourcing methods aligned with the regional strategy.
- Build and maintain a high‑quality pipeline across Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and other key markets.
- Research, contact, and qualify potential leads to support effective business trip planning for the Greater China Sales leadership team.
Client Engagement and Relationship Building
- Engage prospective clients through calls, meetings, events, and written communication.
- Develop a strong understanding of client business models and requirements to prepare accurate and tailored fee proposals.
- Maintain ongoing communication and relationship management with prospects throughout the pre‑engagement phase.
Sales Support and Coordination
- Support RFPs, RFIs, and client‑related documentation requests.
- Prepare call reports, follow up on actions, and ensure accurate record‑keeping in internal systems.
- Measure and report on key sales performance indicators.
Market Intelligence
- Conduct extensive industry, client, and competitor research, including due diligence where required.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date database of potential clients and market insights.
- Monitor competitor activity and provide recommendations for tactical improvements.
Collaboration and Internal Contribution
- Work closely with regional and global sales colleagues to support cross‑selling opportunities.
- Assist team members in winning new business and contribute to process improvement initiatives within the Global Sales Team.
- Represent IQ‑EQ professionally at all times.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in business development, sales, or client acquisition within financial services, private wealth, family office services, or professional services.
- Strong communication skills in English and Mandarin.
- Ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders including UHNWIs, family offices, and institutional clients.
- A proactive, research‑driven approach with strong attention to detail and follow‑through.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
- A strong understanding of the Greater China private wealth landscape is an advantage.
Qualifications
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree; postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
- 8–12+ years’ experience in a senior business development or commercial role within Private Wealth, Fund Administration, Asset Management, or broader Financial Services.
- Proven track record of originating, managing, and closing business within the Greater China market
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of private wealth solutions, trust structures, and corporate entities.
- Experience with Private Trust planning and setup is highly desirable.
- Preferably knowledgeable in closed‑ended and open‑ended fund structures, including private equity and hedge funds.
- Excellent written communication and proposal‑writing skills, with strong proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Skills & Attributes
- Ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders, UHNWIs, and institutional clients.
- Highly self‑motivated, commercially minded, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple opportunities.
- Fluent in Mandarin and English; Cantonese is an advantage.
