Job Description

Responsibilities

The Manager will act as a client manager. Back office work will be performed by our Global Client Delivery centres (India and Mauritius) with full review function, auditor, and client liaison in South Africa.

Tasks (what does the role do on a day-to-day basis)

  • Manage a team to ensure agreed deadlines are adhered to
  • Coach junior staff
  • Report any issues noted from the review to the Directors
  • Deliver the financial info to clients/auditors and assist with any technical comments and questions
  • Manage client/auditor expectations
  • Technical review of AFS and ensure AFS is in accordance with the applicable reporting framework
  • Timely reporting to directors
  • Add value to our clients’ systems and processes

  • Knowledge and insight of the accounting sector (at all levels e.g. IFRS, US GAAP, Fund Structures, Fund accounting and knowledge of management accounting, e.g. VAT, payroll, secretarial, etc.)
  • Taking ownership of clients’ requests, be pro-active
  • Manage teams (at clients or internal) and be able to work in a team environment
  • Perform research to obtain the best solution for clients
  • Look for inefficiencies in our clients’ systems and processes and enhance them
  • Clear Director’s questions and comments efficiently and timely
  • Look for opportunities where we can add value to our clients, especially from a financial management perspective
  • Prepare and detail review financial statements
  • Communicate with auditors and resolve questions/comments effectively and on a timely basis

Qualifications

Education / professional qualifications

  • CA (SA)

Background experience

  • At least 2 years post articles experience if already a manager
  • At least 3 years post articles experience if not a manager

Technical

  • Solid knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP for the investment funds industry.
  • General IFRS knowledge for other industries

Computer / program knowledge

  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)

Company, product and market knowledge

  • Financial Statements

Management and leadership

  • Managing teams
