Job Description

The Technical Manager serves as the authority on complex accounting matters within Global Client Delivery, ensuring technical excellence and quality across multiple teams. This role provides advanced subject matter expertise, acts as the escalation point for unresolved technical queries from Assistant Managers and/or Managers before Fund Technical Accounting (Think) Team involvement, and drives efficiency in documentation and processes. The Technical Manager champions continuous improvement initiatives and oversees technical governance across the cluster.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Core Responsibilities:

  • Act as point of escalation for technical queries beyond Assistant Manager’s resolution before escalating to Fund Technical Accounting Team.
  • Provide authoritative guidance on complex accounting treatments and advanced fund structures with support from the Fund Technical Accounting Team.
  • Oversee technical governance and quality standards across multiple teams within the cluster or group of teams.
  • Evaluate and optimize processes of different team deliverables for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Evaluate usage and embed practices to support adoption of process improvements and system changes in team operations.
  • Design and implement structured technical development programs for cluster teams, fostering continuous learning, in coordination with Fund Technical Accounting Team and/or Technical Training Team.
  • Own comprehensive documentation of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process documentation.
  • Establish, implement and evaluate cluster-wide quality checkpoints and protocols.
  • Support teams with hands-on technical expertise when required.

Tasks:

  • Provide expert resolution for complex technical queries from team members and cluster partners
  • Lead technical discussions on cluster calls involving sophisticated fund structures and calculations
  • Assess and enhance working papers and other templates or processes, to ensure optimal efficiency without compromising accuracy
  • Implement and assess impact of system changes and process improvements on team operations
  • Provide recommendations for effective embedding of system changes and process improvements to team
  • Design and deliver client-specific technical training programs based on account requirements, in collaboration with the Technical Training Team.
  • Maintain, evaluate, and ensure up-to-date, comprehensive SOPs for all team processes and procedures
  • Evaluate checklists and other quality control tools and checkpoints to achieve zero errors on cluster deliverables.
  • Analyze error patterns to identify root causes and implement preventive controls on a cluster level
  • Coordinate with Fund Technical Accounting Team when specialized expertise is required, serving as technical liaison
  • Coordinate with GCD Risk and Compliance Team on compliance cases and high-risk critical processes
  • Document technical decisions and create reference materials for complex accounting treatments
  • Provide guidance on accounting standards interpretation and application in coordination with the Fund Technical Accounting Team.
  • Support team during peak periods with hands-on technical expertise on chargeable work

Qualifications

ABOUT YOU

  • You hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or a related field in finance or commerce.
  • You have successfully completed the Technical Expert certification (IQ-EQ Programme).
  • You either possess or are committed to obtaining a professional qualification such as CPA, CA, ICWA, CMA, or ACCA.
  • You bring 7+ years of relevant experience in Fund Accounting or Financial Services.
  • You demonstrate strong expertise in complex fund structures, carry calculations, and financial reporting.
  • You have experience conducting root cause analysis and driving process optimization.
  • You have a proven track record of independently resolving complex technical issues.
  • You are experienced in creating technical documentation and training materials.
  • You have prior experience in quality assurance and detailed review activities.
  • You have experience managing end-to-end fund processes, or you prefer roles where this exposure is valued.
