About Kiva
We are an international non-profit founded in 2005. Our mission is to expand financial access to help underserved communities thrive by serving the financially excluded. Our work focuses on helping underbanked women, refugees and communities impacted by forced displacement, climate-vulnerable people, and systemically marginalized communities in the United States.
We connect people through crowdfunded loans to increase financial inclusion. Since 2005, our community has raised over $2 billion in loans, reaching more than 5 million people across 84 countries. Our activities include sourcing, developing, and managing debt investments in high-impact social enterprises, especially in places like Latin America.
We also manage fund operations for impact-first investment funds, such as the California Rebuilding Fund, and support a U.S. program that focuses on loan origination and borrower journeys. We engage a global network of volunteers for tasks like content review and translation, and mobilize an Ambassador Community for outreach and awareness.
