We provide an AI-first, open-source Business Intelligence (BI) platform for modern data teams. It’s an open-source alternative to traditional BI tools, built for analysts and on top of modern data tools like dbt. Our platform combines the visual layer with data modeling and transformation layers, creating a single source of truth for data metrics within teams.

Our features include an AI assistant, BI-as-code capabilities, and a dbt-native developer experience. The platform supports embedding for integration into various environments and offers an open semantic layer. We aim to provide trustworthy insights by connecting to dbt and letting you define metrics once. We offer unlimited user seats, data governance features for improved data discoverability, and access through natural language queries, plus usage analytics.

We prioritize developer-friendly workflows and provide enterprise-grade security, including SOC2 TYPE II and HIPAA COMPLIANT certifications. Lightdash Cloud launched into public beta in January 2023 and became generally available (GA) in January 2024. We introduced our AI Analyst (private beta July 2024) and AI Agents (private beta June 2025). Dashboards as code launched in January 2025, and our React SDK followed in February 2025.

Our mission is to make self-serve analytics effortless for modern data teams without sacrificing governance, trust, or developer experience. We want to build a BI tool that SQL experts can configure while remaining intuitive for everyone else, empowering all users.
