About Lighthouse Reports
We are a non-profit organization founded in 2020 and based in the Netherlands. We do collaborative investigative journalism, working with European media outlets to produce public interest journalism on migration, conflict, and corruption.
We build newsrooms around specific topics, giving working journalists editors, tools, and resources. We conduct transnational investigations, using traditional methods like FOIA requests alongside open source investigation techniques. Our findings reach the public through existing platforms such as newspapers, online channels, and broadcast media.
We also seed investigations, build reporting coalitions, and develop impact strategies. Early-career professionals can contribute to high-impact investigations.
Mission & Values
We believe that investigative journalism helps people understand complex issues. Our aim is to create environments where this type of journalism can thrive.
We prioritize pioneering new formats and new ways to frame complex subjects to get public attention and challenge misconceptions. Internally, we aim to establish healthy, equitable, and effective systems to improve the quality and impact of our public interest journalism.
