As part of our continued growth, we are strengthening our Legal team in Finland with a Senior Legal Counsel.
The Legal team supports M-Files’ global business operations, ensures compliance, and manages legal risk. The scope is intentionally broad and requires a strong, versatile in-house generalist.
Your responsibilities may include:
Commercial & Sales Contracts
Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, including:
- SaaS agreements and MSAs (hard requirement)
- Sales and commercial contracts in international contexts
- Professional services and implementation agreements
- Reseller, distributor, and technology partner agreements
- Procurement, vendor, and supplier contracts
Advising business units on commercial risks, liabilities, opportunities, and negotiation strategies.
Data Privacy & Cybersecurity
- Providing expertise, guidance, and operational support related to data protection and privacy.
- Drafting and negotiating Data Processing Agreements.
- Conducting privacy risk assessments and supporting privacy-by-design.
- Maintaining and deploying best practices in privacy and cybersecurity.
Broad, Diverse Legal Work
Handling matters across several legal domains, such as:
- Labor and employment (as part of a broad in-house portfolio)
- Intellectual property and licensing
- Corporate governance and responsibility
- Compliance, ethics, export/import, and regulatory topics
- Content regulation and AI-related regulatory developments
Providing practical, business-oriented legal solutions to support global teams.
Operational & Strategic Legal Support
- Improving contractual templates, playbooks, and processes.
- Delivering training and guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Taking ownership of legal workstreams and stepping in to support areas previously handled by other team members.
- Contributing to initiatives that support M-Files’ business goals from a legal perspective.
What We Expect from you
- Master of Laws (LL.M.) or equivalent university degree from within the EU.
- Minimum 7 years of diverse in-house and/or law firm experience with a clearly demonstrated ability to pivot between legal areas.
- SaaS and software industry experience.
- Strong commercial and sales contracting background, including international SaaS/MSA negotiations.
- Substantial data privacy expertise, including hands-on DPA drafting and privacy operations.
- International work experience and ability to support global business stakeholders.
Core Capabilities
Broad in-house generalist background—not highly specialized but strong across multiple key areas.
Demonstrated proficiency in several domains including:
- Sales contracts / commercial law
- Data privacy
- Labor and employment matters
- General corporate and compliance topics
Ability to quickly take ownership of ongoing workstreams with minimal onboarding.
Strong business-oriented legal thinking and decision-making.
Proactive, independent, and capable of managing a diverse global workload.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, sales-driven, and constantly evolving environment.
Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
Strong prioritization, efficiency, and ability to handle several tasks simultaneously.
Fluency in Finnish and English; Swedish, German, or French are advantage
