Role Overview

The Onboarding Manager will lead the end‑to‑end onboarding of IT services into an internal Global Capability Center (GCC). The role owns Onboarding governance, knowledge acquisition, operational readiness, workforce ramp‑up, and the structured migration of services into a steady‑state insourced operating model.

This position requires deep experience in Onboarding methodologies, outsourcing / insourcing programs, knowledge transfer (KT), service stabilization, governance, and global delivery models, reflected extensively in internal Onboarding frameworks.

You will ensure a seamless Onboarding across multiple service towers (Infrastructure, Application Support, DevOps, Service Desk, etc.) while minimizing business disruption and ensuring full compliance with service, security, and operational requirements.

The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities

1. Own and Lead the End-to-End Onboarding Lifecycle

  • Own Onboarding phases (Pre‑Onboarding → Initiation → Absorption/Knowledge Transfer → Replication → Go‑Live → Stabilization).

Drive the full onboarding to the GCC teams, ensuring defined entry/exit criteria are met at each phase.

2. Build and Execute the Onboarding Program Plan

  • Develop the Onboarding Project Plan, including detailed workstream schedules (I&O, ISO, AMS, Business Value Mgmt, PMO).

Establish Onboarding PMO, governance structure, cadence, communications, reporting templates, and SharePoint tools.

  • Maintain RAID logs, risks, dependencies, mitigation plans, and change‑control processes.

3. Lead Knowledge Transfer & Operational Readiness

  • Drive KT calendar creation, session scheduling, playback reviews, runbook creation, and SME validation.
  • Ensure regulatory/compliance training, system access preparation, hardware/software readiness, and onboarding of GCC staff.
  • Ensure all baseline artifacts (SOPs, runbooks, reports, KT documents) meet sign‑off criteria.

4. Governance, Reporting & Stakeholder Management

  • Set up executive and operational governance with Mattel/US and India stakeholders.

  • Prepare executive reporting: dashboards, progress summaries, health status, risk escalations, deliverable acceptance.

  • Act as single point of contact for leaders across IT, Business, Operations, and Vendor teams.

5. Resource Planning & GCC Ramp-Up

  • Define resource ramp‑up plans, hiring strategies, onboarding, shadowing, and “reverse shadow” activities.

  • Coordinate location planning, facility readiness, access provisioning, and GCC organizational alignment.

6. Service Migration & Stabilization

  • Ensure service continuity from Day‑1 of Go‑Live through stabilization.

Validate SLAs, operational metrics, and reporting structures for new GCC teams.

  • Drive continuous improvement and identify automation / standardization opportunities.

  • Governance and escalation framework

3. Absorption / Knowledge Acquisition

  • SME interviews & application deep‑dives
  • Runbook creation, knowledge documents
  • KT session execution & playback
  • Daily progress logging

4. Replication & Shadowing

  • Reverse shadowing
  • Validation of operational readiness
  • Access approvals & tool readiness
  • DR/BCP plan review

5. Deployment / Go‑Live

  • Onboarding deliverable sign‑offs
  • SLA & performance baselining
  • Day‑1 operations readiness
  • Communication to stakeholders

6. Stabilization

  • Hypercare tracking
  • Issue management & escalations
  • Acceptance of service ownership

Final Governance handoff to GCC operations

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • Required Experience & Background

Experience (10–15+ years preferred)

  • Strong, proven experience leading end‑to‑end service Onboardings in large global IT organizations.

  • Hands‑on execution of Onboarding methodologies including planning, KT, stabilization, SLA readiness, and governance.

  • Experience working with major service providers (HCL, Cognizant, Infosys, TCS, etc.).

  • Direct experience establishing or expanding global delivery centers or GCC hubs.

  • Familiarity with multi‑tower Onboardings (I&O, ISO, Applications, DevOps, Service Desk).

  • Strong program management, RAID management, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Skills & Competencies

  • Mastery of Onboarding frameworks and service migration methodologies.

  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders across onshore/offshore hybrid models.

  • Expertise in KT orchestration, SLA modeling, and operational readiness.

  • Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheets, SharePoint, Jira, and PMO tooling.

  • Knowledge of ITIL, SDLC, Agile, PMO frameworks.

  • Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, Business, or related discipline (MBA preferred).

  • ITIL, PMP, Scrum Master, SAFe certification a strong plus.
